He did it again the "real way," but the guys in his band didn't fit the "image" of what a band like that should look like.Oh my!. Some songs sounded good, but he's tired of "I Ran" so they did a "rocked up" version that totally sucked. I saw "his" version of the band in the early '00s when I was living in NYC (a show at a small club in Long Island) - kind of a lousy show. Mike Score does not deserve all the credit in that band.

And maybe he was happy in that job, but he deserves to still be making music. I loved that episode of Bands Reunited, but was anyone else bummed out to see former rock star Ali wearing a plastic hat and manning a factory machine? I'm in no way making fun - the sad reality is that most people in bands, even those with some hits, can't make hits forever and have to go on to other things. "Love On Your Knees" is embarrassingly bad. It's hard to rank "I Ran," "Wishing," "The More You Live, The More You Love," "Nightmares" or "Modern Love Is Automatic" - they're all equally wonderful! I also share love for "Never Again (The Dancer)." Album #4 is a piece of crap for the most part, but "Who's That Girl (She's Got It)" and "Heartbeat Like A Drum" are goofy, silly and fun synthy singles. "Space Age Love Song" is probably my favorite (that guitar!!!), and all the other big singles are tied for second place. First 2 albums are both solid and the third is quite lovable. The songs themselves are great, but it's his guitar that really seals the deal - I love synths, but I tend to love groups classified as new wave that put guitars prominently in the mix.

As others have said, Paul Reynolds really was the magic in the band. To me, AFOS epitomize the "new wave" sound that I loved so much in the early '80s, and they were a very important piece of the MTV puzzle at the time. I personally love the hair and the look, but unfortunately it has caused many, many people to judge them before listening to the music.
